Working Student

Many professionals begin their education and career path as a working student. It can be grueling work, but it affords a gain of information and insight impossible to quantify. Before Allison became a professional herself, she spent valuable time as a working student at an eventing barn. Taking advantage of every riding opportunity she was offered, Allison gained invaluable experience. Meanwhile, she greatly benefitted from the influence of the knowledgeable professionals around her.

Hunters

Allison spent a few years honing and expanding her skills while working for a breeder of lovely hunter horses.  She really enjoyed starting the young Hanoverian warmbloods and the Welsh hunter ponies under saddle. Meanwhile, she was fortunate to accrue miles of show experience while piloting the youngsters in the hunter ring.  Spending a good deal of time working with the foals was a bonus!

European Education

Moving to Europe to continue her education, Allison landed with an international show jumper in Belgium. Having the chance to ride his top quality jumpers was an amazing experience. She also travelled with him to many shows all over Europe and was fortunate to meet numerous top show jumper riders.

Allison’s next stop was Germany where she worked at the farm of Hanoverian breeder and veterinarian, Kareen Heineking-Schütte. Handling and working with the Hanoverian foals born at the farm was a joy. The farm imported fine Welsh ponies from Great Britain which Allison then started under saddle. Additionally, the experience and knowledge gained from working closely with Kareen in the breeding process was a great asset.

Eventing and Jumping

With many miles of Jumping and Eventing training and showing herself, Allison has exceptional knowledge for her clients who choose to focus on these sports. She is a master riding any horse over fences, but also has a gift for teaching her information. Incorporating her European expertise together with the all important flatwork lessons, her clients have a well rounded education. This equals confidence and success both at home and in the show ring.

Dressage

Allison truly relishes the sport of dressage and immerses herself in every educational opportunity. She has had great success in the dressage show ring with her own lovely Dutch Warmblood, Bugatti. Changing his career path from eventing towards dressage has been an exciting adventure. Allison is enjoying the journey that is dressage!

Starting a Horse Under Saddle

With years of experience under her belt, Allison definitely has a love for working with the youngsters. She is a specialist in starting a horse under saddle. Her vast knowledge gives her the ability to give each horse a classically correct and compassionate education. The horses she works with are confident and happy in their work.

Students

Allison has a deep dedication to her students. She strives for excellence in her teaching just as she strives for excellence in her own education. Dressage is the basis for all of her instruction giving her clients a well rounded foundation. This strong base of knowledge allows each rider to focus on their chosen discipline with great success.

Students attend local hunter shows for the sake of competition but also as a fun practice to prepare for horse trials. Schooling cross country is something many of her clients enjoy, even those who don’t plan to compete in eventing. And dressage shows are always fun for their own sake or to practice tests before a horse trial. Many of Allison’s clients choose to focus on dressage for the shear joy of learning. The diversity and quality Allison offers her students is greatly appreciated by all!
